Changes to the server requires that some customers make changes to their email settings. If you are experiencing difficulties, please try the following:
If your email account is set up as a POP3 account, make a back up of your emails, then delete the account and set up an IMAP account for your email address using the information in the guide below.
If your email account is set up as an IMAP account, simply make the following changes:
Go into the account settings for the account you need to update:

Then select the account and click “change”:

From there, match your settings to the following image:

Then via “More Settings” change the settings in the Outgoing Server and Advance tabs:

This should resolve any issues that you may be experiencing, however do not hesitate to contact us if you are still having email problems.
Thanks,

Way back in December of 2010 we told you about Take-A-Way.co.uk, a new site that was on the up. Well, back then with 20,000 unique visitors a month it was a proud achievement for both the Take-A-Way team and us here at Adire. Now, in January 2012 we thought you’d like an update.
Hitting over 100,000 unique visitors a month, the site has continued to go from strength to strength. We hope to continue to support them along their journey and wish them all the best!

When setting up an email account hosted by adire, please remember the following:
Your username will be your complete email address e.g. john.doe@example.co.uk.
Your password is likely very complex and may be difficult to type. If possible, copy and paste it.
When sending email, our server requires that outlook uses authentication. Please see the following 3 images to see how to enable this.

For all the website owners out there that are currently worrying about the new cookie legislation that will come into effect for all websites on 25th May 2011, do not fear.
For the moment, because a governemnt guide can’t be agreed upon, enforcement action is likely to lag far behind the date of 25th May. The problem centres on precisely how to ask user’s for permission to use cookies without a user’s browsing experience taking a nose dive.
I know that if I suddenly found myself being greated by a prompt on every site I visited asking “If it would be ok to use cookies and potentially track my browsing habits on their website” then I would quickly look for a browser addon to auto accept those prompts or ignore them completely.
Hopefully, something can be agreed at the browser level that would instead put the responsiblity on the user to change a setting on their browser, rather than the responsablity being with websites to ask every user if it’s ok if it gives them a cookie.
For all our clients, we will let you know if any updates are required for your websites, but in the short term, it looks unlikely.

So what’s the big deal about web-hosting and how can having the right host make a difference?
Everyone is different, and has different needs. Most web companies, ourselves included, offer a varied range from low to high specifications. At Adire, these are known as our bronze, silver and gold packages. But what do you do when you need something a little more personal? Well, unlike many other hosting companies, we offer bespoke hosting and like bespoke clothing, it fits.
If you are making a site with dedicated applications and a specific function then you might have to throw money away to get the features you need because they are only in high end packages. Packages which usually come bundled with a lot of features you don’t want or need. A costly error to make and not one too many can afford. For example if you need a large amount of web space but very little bandwidth, or if you want bandwidth galore but don’t require any kind of MySQL or PHP databases then you can cut down on cost and enjoy that “designed for you service” that some other companies simply don’t offer.

The mobile generation is here and here to stay. With more and more people on the move, the office is becoming mobile. After all, we have now come to expect emails and internet browsing on a phone.
So why shouldn’t your website be mobile too?
This is an important step for any business as more and more the office becomes the back of a taxi or a train for commuters or a living room. It doesn’t have to mean a new site it just means upgrading the current one to include mobile pages that are designed for a much smaller resolution and cutting sections down to their core. We don’t change the main sites pages instead we make new pages that are viewed by the mobile devices automatically instead of the main site.
When dealing in mobile optimisation there are many points to remember and firstly is that it isn’t a computer. This mean its on a slower connection, with less processing power and memory. As well as needing to load fast its a good idea not to make the site too big as a lot people don’t have unlimited internet on the phone.
Every business benefits from mobiles optimisation.

Microsoft’s search engine Bing has been accused of copying the search results of search engine giant Google. Microsoft has denied the allegations and has stated that it has simply been using data gathered by Internet explorer 8 based on how users used the Internet to refine it’s own search engine.
Google however had built a sting operation by using there own search engine results to see if they would appear in Bing and there are sure enough examples to be found. But whether this proves anything is yet to be seen. Then there is also the matter of whether or not what it proves really is malpractice or not. Only time will tell which of these corporate giants is right.

Chrome is now one of the big players in the Internet browser war though still way behind the major players, and with apples safari just behind it. From December to January we saw a steady loss for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and though they were holding steady now Mozilla’s FireFox is starting to see a loss. This should lead to some interesting events later on in the year when gaps begin to close and measures are taken to try and gain supremacy.
